Unbeaten Games: The Untold Saga – Episode IX

Just over a week later, another one bites the dust…

Last night I completed Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. As I have become accustomed with doing, I did not push myself to beat it on the hardest difficulty, only on one of the regular ones. Still, several achievements are alluding me; however, since they are not a part of this quest, I shall forego obtaining them for now and move onto another game.

Short Review of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

  • Story endorsed by George Lucas, making it a part of Star Wars Canon
    • Compelling and engaging story
  • Gameplay mechanics made me feel in complete control of the force
  • Pretty decent voice actors (even though lips didn’t move perfectly realistically)
  • Physics engine and AI reactions were amazing

  • After playing SW:KOTOR on the Xbox and all three Mass Effect, the story felt short and very linear (even though you can make one “choice” at the end of the game)
  • Didn’t feel much connection with any of the characters; felt like gameplay mechanics were the most polished/developed area of the game
  • Forced methods for boss fights
    • Only one “best” method for beating a boss made the badasseryness – yes, I know it’s not a real word – of Starkiller feel muted

Despite the balance of my Pros and Cons, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Easily a 9 out of 10.

If any of you have feedback as to which game I should beat next, let me know in the comments below. I’m considering either Ninja Gaiden 2 (since I already have a save halfway through) or Phantasy Star Universe (I think I have a save that’s a chapter or two into it already) because both of them are relatively short, but you can pick from any of the remaining fourteen (14) games.

The List

• Batman: Arkham Asylum Completed 6-4-12 (Ep. II)
• Batman: Arkham City
• BioShock 2
• Call of Duty: Black Ops Completed 9-22-12 (Ep. VII)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Completed 10-5-12 (Ep. VIII)
• Fallout 3
• Halo Wars
• Lost Odyssey
• Ninja Gaiden 2
• Phantasy Star Universe
• Prince of Persia
• Red Dead Redemption
• Sonic the Hedgehog
• Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Star War: The Force Unleashed Completed 10-14-12 (Ep. IX)
• Street Fighter IV
• The Elder’s Scroll V: Skyrim
• The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Completed 9-17-12 (Ep. VI)
• Tomb Raider: Underworld

Count: 14/19 remaining

I’d say Skyrim, but it’s a perpetual game, unless (for the purposes of this blog) you choose to do the main, dragon-based storyline.

I do play Skyrim on and off, but that’s one of those games I don’t want to rush if I can avoid it. Plus, even running just the main quest is a time sink. I’m trying to do quick, easy enough games to cut down my number before I buy some games starting at the end of October (i.e. Assassin’s Creed 3).

But thanks for the feedback. It helps me know that my words aren’t falling on deaf ears – or blind eyes?

Yeah, I assumed that Skyrim would be something for the end. I guess I’d suggest seeing Ninja Gaiden 2 completed>Phantasy Star>Prince of Persia?

I’ve played Prince of Persia so I know it doesn’t take much time if you get the hang of it but it’s been a long time – id be interested to know your thoughts – see if its worth me picking up again :P

Force Unleashed II also had the single choice issue and linearity too, but the story itself makes up for it. And the killer is how much of a cliffhanger it ended with and no clear word of there being a third one in the works.

Now down to business, did you do the canon Light side ending or the Ifinity-verse Dark side ending?
