Lily Girls’ Review: Sengoku Otome ~Momoiro Paradox~

The world is so full of injustice toward lilies, isn’t it? So Katie’s back from her month of moving and vacations and so forth to bring you a review! Our next one will be Attack on Titan because it has to be, but since I haven’t actually seen it yet (I know, yell at me in the comments. Anything to get away from the oodles of spam we get left) I decided to go with one that I happened to just be recommending to someone.

Sengoku Otome… yeah, this is gonna be good.

Enter Hide Yoshino (that name…), a high school girl who has really no desire to do anything. When asked about her plans for the future by her History teacher, little Yoshino says a career involving napping and sweets would be best. I think we can all relate to that.  She also is failing History...

Lily Girls’ Review: Ga-Rei Zero

Here’s a story that should appeal a lot to our Mangaden audience. For all of you who get frustrated with how badly Bleach misses the mark, in comes the Ga-Rei franchise.

Ga-Rei Zero is the prequel to the Ga-Rei manga which I admittedly haven’t delved in to, but the Zero is about a series of people, part of an Agency, who fight monstrous departed spirits called Specters. Some of the weapons used to fight the Specters are remarkably clever, like Natsuki whose tires of her motorcycle are able to create barriers against the dead. The story focuses on Kagura and her adoptive sister Yomi who use katana as their weapons against the Specters. Yomi and Kagura are also from families who are known to be able to summon spirits to fight alongside them, called Ga-Rei.

Unbeaten Games: The Untold Saga – Episode XVI

Surprise! I’m back early!

So, I had a little bit of spare time on my hands over the weekend and decided to beat Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Now as most of you know, this was not an easy task. The incredibly long loading times, horrible camera angles, and terrible voice acting made the trek arduous at best. Top that off with having to complete three different stories (Sonic, Shadow, and Silver) and the part where they all meet (the “Last Story”) and you have one hell of a weekend. Despite the challenge, however, I drudged through and came out on the other side with one more game marked off my list.

The task I’m left with now is deciding which game I wish to pursue next…

I’m just kidding. We all know that I’m going to play Tomb Raider (2013) next...

Unbeaten Games: The Untold Saga – Episode XV

Welcome back everyone!

I’m sorry it has taken me so long to post a new update to this blog, but things have been crazy busy since the end of January. Between Mardi Gras, Spring Break, Easter, etc. I’ve have very little time to update, but I’ve had plenty of time to play some games. Without further ado, here’s the newest updates:

At the beginning of February, I finally finished Prince of Persia. I had initially tried to make a video review of the game; however, between my lack of drive and multiple party-like events, I never got around to finishing it. Let me know in the comments below if you’d like me to edit the remaining minute or so and post it for people to watch.

Last night, I completed Phantasy Star Universe...

Unbeaten Games: The Untold Saga – Episode XIV

I didn’t get much time last week to play, but this is not a pointless update. As of last weekend, I have officially gone digital – meaning you can now watch my quest live and follow the recaps on two video channels: one on and one on YouTube (see below for links and details).

Everytime that I log in to play through one of my unbeaten games, I will sign into and livestream my gameplay (typically 7 PM to 10 PM EST on weeknights and random times on weekends). If you don’t want to constantly be checking for the livestream, you can always follow me on twitter @lazy_guardian. I promise to tweet each time I start livestreaming.

With that having been said, I will be continuing my quest to finish Prince of Persia...

Unbeaten Games: The Untold Saga – Episode XIII

Welcome one-and-all to another blog entry/episode of Unbeaten Games.

This morning I beat the infamous Ninja Gaiden 2. While it was thoroughly enjoyable (I had a craving for the hack-n-slash style of game with DMC‘s release this week), this game was a pain in the ass. Even on the easiest difficulty (Acolyte), I was dying repeatedly. Perhaps, this is due to my lack of skill in the genre; however, I found this game to be much harder to beat than it needed to be. Needless to say, I definitely recommend Ninja Gaiden 2 to anyone who likes the hack-n-slash style of gameplay (and maybe has masochistic tendancies).

With another one down, it’s time I set my sights on the next game. Since the feedback last week was minimal and later than anticipated, I’ve decided to start on a game of my choosing: P...

Unbeaten Games: The Untold Saga – Episode XII

Annnnddd…. we’re back for another entry into the Unbeaten Games blog!

Fortunately, I have good news to report for this week. On Friday, I beat Halo 4 on the Solo Legendary campaign. This means that I feel comfortable enough removing it from my list; however, like several other games on this list, I am not completely satisfied with just beating the story so I do plan on going back and completing the rest of the items (mostly, achievements). Sound off in the comments below if you’d like for me to start a new blog series around achievement hunting/whoring.

With Halo 4 complete, I need to move onto the next game, but I’m not sure which game that should be. I am leaning towards Assassin’s Creed III, Black Ops II, Ninja Gaiden 2, or Phantasy Star Universe...

Unbeaten Games: The Untold Saga – Episode XI

Welcome back and Happy New Year to you all!

I just realized that it has been a while since I made the last entry into this blog so I thought I’d give an update. As you could predict, I got 3 new games in November and December (Assassin’s Creed III, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and Halo 4) and did not manage my time well between the three of them. None of the three are close to being beaten on any difficulty. Thus, my numbers have inflated once more.

My new goal is to get this list down to single digits by the summer time (end of May). Hopefully, I’ll be able to accomplish that. For now, I’m going to focus my attention on beating Halo 4 on Solo Legendary (3 of 9 missions done).

I will give you all an update next week! As always, leave your comments below.

The List

  • Assassin’s Creed III...

Unbeaten Games: The Untold Saga – Episode X

Woo-hoo! We made it to ten entries in this blog! It’s officially the longest running blog I’ve ever maintained….  >_>

Ahem, anyway… I thought I would use this entry to recap the events over the last few weeks since I have not completed any additional games since Episode IX. I’ll put it in bullet form for those of you not interested in reading paragraphs:

  • Bought Star Wars:The Old Republic (SWTOR) for PC and been playing that in most of my spare time (until this past Monday)
  • Built a new desktop, gaming PC after my wife’s laptop’s hard drive failed last week (been looking for a reason to build one)
    • [Comment or message me if you're interested in the parts I used for the build]
  • Bought Assassin’s Creed III and Halo 4, increasing the number of games to beat from fourteen (14) out of ninete...

Unbeaten Games: The Untold Saga – Episode IX

Just over a week later, another one bites the dust…

Last night I completed Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. As I have become accustomed with doing, I did not push myself to beat it on the hardest difficulty, only on one of the regular ones. Still, several achievements are alluding me; however, since they are not a part of this quest, I shall forego obtaining them for now and move onto another game.

Short Review of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

  • Story endorsed by George Lucas, making it a part of Star Wars Canon
    • Compelling and engaging story
  • Gameplay mechanics made me feel in complete control of the force
  • Pretty decent voice actors (even though lips didn’t move perfectly realistically)
  • Physics engine and AI reactions were amazing

  • After playing SW:KOTOR on the Xbox and a...
